Project

Digitalisierung und subjektive Arbeitsplatzunsicherheit im internationalen Vergleich

Project duration: 31.12.2018 to 30.12.2023

Abstract

Fears that machines could take people's jobs away are currently being discussed in the media, politics and science. On the one hand, it is argued that digital transformation is destroying jobs, as they can increasingly be replaced by computers or robots. On the other hand, digital transformation can also offer opportunities, e.g. by creating new jobs. Employees do not necessarily have to see their own job threatened by technological progress. Based on the project "Digital transformation and subjective job insecurity", which investigates the extent to which employees in Germany consider their jobs to be at risk in the course of digital transformation, different countries are now being considered. In cooperation with the University of Duisburg-Essen, the relationship between digital transformation and subjective job insecurity is examined in the context of the economic and political conditions of the different countries. A comparative analysis based on the "European Social Survey (ESS)" will be carried out.
