Kann die Digitalisierung zur Beseitigung die geschlechtsspezifische Arbeitsteilung auf dem Arbeitsmarkt beitragen?
Project duration: 10.10.2018 to 30.06.2021
Abstract
In the context of the debate on digitalisation, it is repeatedly claimed that new technological possibilities make it possible to break down the gender-specific division of the labour market, e.g. by enabling women to perform physically more difficult tasks by supporting digital assistance systems, to achieve a better reconciliation of family life and professional success, etc. However, a number of other social developments are taking place parallel to digitalisation: (demographic change, shortages of skilled workers in social occupations, girls achieving better school-leaving qualifications than boys, but in some STEM-occupations the proportion of women is not increasing). Against this background, we examine the question of what role digitisation plays in the gender-specific division of the labour market.
