Abstract

This project ties up to the public debate in East Germany about the lack of native East Germans in leading positions. So far, there is only sparse and non-representative evidence. In order to provide a sound scientific basis for this discussion, we focus on the employment trajectories of East German doctorate holders. To this, we combine information on the birthplace collected from online dissertations with the Integrated Employment Biographies of the IAB. Central variables are adequate employment and wages.
