Abstract

The development and usage of knowledge constitutes a decisive motor for regional development in industrialized economies. The regional component is very strong in this respect, because knowledge-intensive firms plan their location decisions strategically in order to secure their long-run innovative capability. For this, the workforce is a decisive factor. This project combines firm data provided by researchers from the TU München with IAB data to monitor the spatial mobility of employees in the knowledge sector. Central issues are labor mobility, qualification level and age structure.
