Abstract

Although social assistance receipt in Germany is rather a permanten than transitory phenomenon, benefit recipients were surprisingly successful in taking up new Jobs in the past: In 2008 they were hired into 1,177 Mio. jobs covered by social security and into 565.000 Mini-Jobs. Jobs were often in the low wage sector, so that only 44 p.c. of full time jobs led to an end of benefit receipt. 55 p.c. of jobs were of short duration and had ended before six months of tenure. In this  Project, we repeat our Analysis for the year 2013.
