Abstract

The measurement of hours worked (AZR) of the Institute for Employment Research (Institut
für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung – IAB) is a complex measurement concept based on
components, which projects the scope and development of the macroeconomic volume of
work in detail. The results are among others also included in national accounts (NAS).

The main purpose of the 2014 revision is to implement the new European System of National and Regional Accounts (ESA 2010),
which replaces the ESA 1995 version currently applied in the EU countries.The coming 2014 major revision will also be used again to integrate new data sources.
Data to be mentioned here are in particular the results of the 2011 Census and new information in the statistics of the Federal Employment Agency
and we will revise especially the components paid overtime and working time accounts and "introduce" a new component - unpaid overtime.
