Skill-relatedness of industries and complexity

Abstract

In economics, the connectedness of industries in the Input-Ouput control over-ties and shared through hierarchies in the official classification of economic activities will be mapped. A new approach to determine this relationship is the concept of "skill-based relatedness" (human capital-specific relationship) between sectors. This concept is growing attention in the host-economic sciences and in the regional economy. The attachment is secured to the extent to which industries can use the same or similar human capital. Or vice versa, what specific human capital can be used in several industries. However, to date there is little empirical evidence on the relationship of specific human capital industries. This kind of composites to be integrated in this research project identified and analyzed. For this purpose, the employment change between the sectors studied in Germany at the individual level. This should be done in both short and long term at the current end to any changes in the uncovering of industries affiliated satisfaction. In the study, statistical methods are used to control for the key determinants of employment change between the branches (such as an income, and gender). The residual is treated as human capital-specific Verbundenheitsmaß between sectors. As a result there is an affinity matrix between sectors. The results for Germany should be compared with available results for Sweden. In addition to the bond matrix on the analysis and planes operating region are transmitted.
