Regionale Mobilität in der Region Berlin-Brandenburg. Wanderungen und Pendeln seit der Jahrhundertwende
Project duration: 01.10.2013 to 30.06.2021
Abstract
The Region Berlin-Brandenburg is characterized by geographical mobility which moves in a variety of directions. The growing economic strength of the German capital Berlin not only attracts many commuters from nearby communities in Brandenburg but also from far away regions in southern and western Germany. At the same time, suburbanisation is taking place and Berliners are moving out to Brandenburg. Additionally, the region has seen significant demographic changes. Younger cohorts have dramatically decreased throughout Berlin-Brandenburg and older cohorts have left the Brandenburg labour market in sizable numbers and moved into retirement. Against this background, the Project analyzes regional mobility and commuting in Berlin-Brandenburg.
