Abstract

The measurement of hours worked (AZR) of the Institute for Employment Research (Institut
für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung – IAB) is a complex calculation concept based on
components, which projects the scope and development of the macroeconomic volume of
work in detail. The results are among others also included in national accounts (NAS).

The results are currently provided to the Federal Statistical Office (Statistisches Bundesamt – StBa) quarterly, classified according
to 17 economic activities, and annually, classified according to 31 economic activities.
