Abstract

We apply a toolbox for analysis of regions’ industrial structure and economic resilience in a way that highlights the human capital similarities, or skill relatedness, among industries. We use this toolbox to carry out a comparative analysis of the economic developments in three East German case study regions between 1999 and 20008. The core of these analyses is the so-called industry space, a network that links industries with similar human capital requirements.
