Abstract

This project is divided into two parts. In the first part, a new database will be developed using the administrative data of the Federal Employment Agency. With this new database it will be possible to obtain very precise information about the degree of labour-market integration of Ethnic Germans.

In the second part of the project, this new database will be used to perform a survival analysis to investigate transitions from unemployment into unsubsidised employment focusing on the role played by education and active labour-market programmes. In addition, an empirical test of the signalling theory will also be implemented, in order to analyse the values of educational signals relative to those of native Germans.
