Abstract

The measurement of hours worked (AZR) of the Institute for Employment Research (Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung – IAB) is a complex calculation concept based on components, which projects the scope and development of the macroeconomic volume of work in detail. The results are among others also included in national accounts (NAS). The AZR provides a comprehensive, detailed image of the actual time worked by the various groups of gainfully employed people. In this project the calculation is being expanded in sex- and age-group-devisions starting 1991 for western and eastern Germany.
