Employment situation in the childcare and education professions in Lower Saxony and Bremen
Project duration: 01.09.2023 to 31.12.2024
Abstract
Childcare is a very important area of society in many respects: for example, early childhood education lays the foundations for the rest of life. In addition, the scope of institutional childcare services is of great importance for the compatibility of family and employment and thus also for the available labor and skilled labor potential of the economy. The study provides an overview of the current employment situation in childcare professions and its development since 2013 in Lower Saxony/Bremen. It then uses analyses of the length of time spent in the profession and the employment biography to examine the relationship between selected characteristics and the length of time spent in the profession and how the employment history of people who took up their first job in the childcare professions between 2000 and 2010 developed. Finally, analyses of age-related replacement requirements are presented.
