Abstract

The project examines the role of the host society in the integration of refugees into the receiving countries' labor markets and societies. We construct a multidimensional index that measures the attitudes of the local population towards immigrants at their place of residence as determined by the authorities. This helps to avoid bias in the results caused by refugees' potential regional self-selection. Various indicators from the IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees are used to measure the integration of refugees.
