Abstract

The aim of the POGEBOR project is the analysis of demographic, economic and labour market related aspects of the border regions between the German and Polish border. It intends to bring together common indicators which describe the border regions from both sides of the border. Thus, it broadens the knowledge stock on similarities, differences, options and challenges from various perspectives. Given a descriptive picture the results can be used for municipalities, governmental institutions, firms and organizations to achieve a better transparency of the regions nearby. Thus, it reduces for instance costs for unemployed to find a new job possibly of the other side of the border, for firms to find another employee and for policy makers to better cooperate with other regions when the strengths of neighbouring regions is combined.
