Project

Ecological transformation and individual employment trajectories

Project duration: 22.07.2024 to 31.12.2029

Abstract

The objective of this project is to examine the interrelationship between ecological transformation and individual employment trajectories. The central research question is as follows: What are the consequences of the change in labour demand due to the ecological transformation for individual employment histories? The analysis considers a number of labour market indicators, including wage development, unemployment risk and employment stability. Furthermore, heterogeneity analyses are conducted to ascertain which population groups are most adversely affected by the ecological transformation. To this end, we analyse employees by age cohort, gender, nationality and wage level. Based on administrative data from the Federal Employment Agency at the employee level and the Greenness of Jobs Index (GOJI), the project provides new insights for research as well as a contribution to policy, with the aim of enabling the targeting of labour market instruments to support employees in the context of the ecological transformation.
