Abstract

Along with the introduction of the Bürgergeld, financial incentives of 75€ per month (Bürgergeldbonus, §16j SGB II) were introduced in order to increase participation in training measures specifically designed for younger welfare recipients. As these incentives were introduced in all of Germany, a causal analysis is only possible under a set of relatively strict assumptions. However, a descriptive analysis will analyze the number of entries in affected measures and compare the composition of participations before and after the introduction of the Bürgergeldbonus.
