Recruitment and employment stability after long-term unemployment
Project duration: 01.01.2023 to 31.12.2024
Abstract
In this project, we explore the determinants of the stability of new matches who were hired out of long-term unemployment. Particular attention is paid to the importance of employers’s search and recruitment channels (e.g. recruitment via social contacts) as well as employers‘ screening strategies for the duration of new employment relationships after long-term unemployment. We use data from the IAB Job Vacancy survey, which we merge to the Integrated Employment Biographies (IEB). This matched data set allows us to retrieve information on the recruitment process of employers‘ most recent hires along with information on the most recently hired individual‘s employment history.
