Abstract

This project aims to activate the scientific Exchange between Germany and Russia on immigration related topics. In Addition to a Joint Research Agenda an Exchange of students is anticipated in the future. A first Workshop takes place in Berlin in September this year.

Both countries face a demographic transition with an expected population decline in the near future. Therefore, immigration is required to reduce the potential negative consequences of the shrinkage. The focus is set on regional opportunities but also critical issues of the integration of migrants in various areas (e.g. metropolis vs. rural regions).
