Project

Mindestlohnbegleitforschung Überprüfung der Ausnahmeregelung für Langzeitarbeitslose

Project duration: 14.10.2014 to 30.07.2016

Abstract

With the new minimum wage law, Germany has a nationwide hourly minimum wage of 8,50 euros. One exemption applies for workers who have been registered as long-term unemployed before taking up a new job, but only during the first six month of their new occupation. This project aims at analyzing this exemption and consists of two main parts. The first subproject studies the effects the exemption has on the processes of the German employment services. It is based on interviews of experts and management in selected job Centers. The second subproject quantitatively examines the transition of the long-term unemployed into employment using administrative data and a standardized telephone survey.
