Abstract

Since 2006 the so-called ‘Gründungszuschuss’ entitles recipients of unemployment benefit I in Germany to financial assistance to take up self-employment. In this qualitative implementation study we focus on two issues: First, we are interested in practices and varieties of implementation in different local and institutional settings. Second, we look into the biographies and motivations of the self-employed.
