Erklärung von Entwicklung und Struktur der Erwerbsformen
Project duration: 01.09.2006 to 31.12.2008
Abstract
The German economy experiences two kinds of structural change. First, the dominance of sectors is shifting towards the service industry. Second, less full time workers but more part time workers are being employed. It is the aim of the project to explain the development and the structure of different types of employment in an integrated shift share approach which enables us to include both kinds of structural changes as well as other explaining variables. The regressions will be estimated seperately for East and West Germany. Since the transition economy of the East has been adjusting to Western economic structures, the regions should not be integrated in just one structural analysis. Basically, the project will be put forward in two steps. On the one hand, we interpret types of employment in terms of people. On the other hand, we interpret types of employment in terms of the volume of work. We will probably conclude different strategies, depending on whether individuals¿ view or macroeconomic production is under consideration.
