Labour market-relevant effects of the energy crisis and ecol. change: data collection and exploration through high-frequency surveys and process data
Project duration: 01.02.2024 to 31.12.2025
Abstract
The project analyses the effects of the energy crisis on companies and employees. The high-frequency surveys of the IAB Job Vacancy Survey and the Opal Panel Survey are used for this purpose. The IAB Job Vacancy Survey includes questions from the fourth quarter of 2023 to the third quarter of 2024 on the effects of the energy crisis and personnel adjustments due to the crisis. In addition, the high-frequency employee survey asks employees subject to social security contributions about how they are affected in their company and workplace. Data from BerufeNet will also be used as a data basis for the labour supply; the aim here is to systematically search for changes or modifications to occupations that have been particularly affected by the transformation or energy market crisis over time. It is expected that transformation processes will take place both within companies and on the general labour market. At the company level, the survey results are supplemented by data aggregates from the Federal Statistical Office on energy utilisation of energy consumption in companies. As a result, the aim is to record changes in behaviour on both the labour supply and the labour demand side, which may then be incorporated as assumptions in macroeconomic scenarios
