Abstract

The first two waves of the IAB-ZEW Working World 4.0 survey were conducted in 2016 and 2021/22. These surveys primarily analyzed which establishments are investing in digital technologies and what consequences this has for employment and wage development. The second wave also focused on the consequences of the coronavirus crisis. The third wave will focus on the use of AI. The linking with administrative data, data from Orbis/Creditreform, and establishment's job advertisements aims to analyze 1. the establishment's use of AI, 2. shifts in activities and skills, and 3. the effects of AI on inequality between companies and employees.
