Annual earnings difference between men and women
Project duration: 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2025
Abstract
Gender differences in annual earnings (the gender pay gap) reflect differences in hourly wages as well as working hours and the probability of employment. Depending on their earnings level before the coronavirus crisis, men and women were affected differently by the crisis: While women with medium and high annual earnings were catching up with men between 2019 and 2021, women with the lowest earnings experienced significantly greater losses than men. We show how the coronavirus crisis affected annual earnings of women and men as a whole and how the gender pay gap developed depending on the level of earnings and type of employment (full-time, part-time, mini-job). We also look at changes in the transition rates between different types of employment.
