MINT-Berufe in Hessen
Project duration: 01.06.2023 to 31.08.2024
Abstract
The demand for (highly qualified) specialists in Germany in the fields of mathematics, IT, natural sciences and technology (STEM) is high and will continue to rise sharply in the future, not least due to demographic change and the technological and ecological transformation of the labor market. One of the ways to ensure a sustainable supply of young skilled workers is to get more women interested in STEM subjects and STEM professions - even at an early age - to make vocational and academic training in STEM subjects more attractive and to facilitate the immigration of skilled workers in these areas. This IAB Regional is dedicated to the supply-side developments in securing the next generation of STEM professionals in Hesse and focuses on the three pillars of vocational training, studying STEM subjects and the immigration of people with STEM qualifications. The presentation of the development of employment and unemployment in STEM professions in Hesse is deliberately excluded here, as multimedia data analyses are provided by the statistics of the Federal Employment Agency for this purpose.
