Actualisation of substitution potentials of occupations due to digital transformation in Germany
Project duration: 01.10.2022 to 31.12.2024
Abstract
To determine the consequences of digitization for the world of work, the research group calculates so-called substitution potentials of occupations. Based on occupational data from the expert database BERUFENET of the German Federal Employment Agency, the share of tasks that could currently be performed by computers or computer-controlled machines is determined for occupations. The substitution potentials were calculated for the first time for 2013. However, these estimates are a snapshot based on technological capabilities and occupational profiles in 2013. As both technologies evolve and occupational profiles change, substitution potentials are updated every three years. An update of the substitution potentials has already been conducted for 2016 and 2019. A new update is now planned for 2022.
