Abstract

Commuting distances, i.e. the distance between home and work, are needed for many research projects. The aim of this project is to provide the commuting distance in meters in direct line for each employment-spell of the IAB employment history file. This is done on the basis of georeferenced address data, so that distances within municipalities are also determined. Since such data are only available from 2000 onwards, distances cannot be determined for the period before that.
