Understanding Wage-Flexibility in Germany

Abstract
The research project "Heterogeneity in company wage setting in Germany" aims to shed new light on wage flexibility and wage negotiations in Germany. Specifically, the aim is to examine (1) why companies decide to negotiate wages with employees, (2) how much heterogeneity there is between companies and sectors over time and (3) to what extent (individual) wage negotiations between companies and employees affect wage inequality in Germany. The knowledge gained in research projects is intended to provide a more thorough understanding of the heterogeneity of wage negotiation strategies and, on the other hand, to shed new light on the trade-off between wage negotiations.
