Christian Dustmann studied business economics at the University of Bielefeld (Vordiplom 1983). He received his Master’s degree in economics at the University of Georgia (Athens, USA) in 1985 and his diploma in business in 1988 from the University of Bielefeld. He completed his doctorate in economics at the European University Institute in Florence in 1992 and gained his post-doctoral qualification in economics and econometrics five years later at the University of Bielefeld.

Christian Dustmann has been Professor of Economics at University College London and Director of the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration since 2004. In addition, he was Scientific Director of the NORFACE (New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Cooperation in Europe) programme on migration from 2009 to 2014.

Professor Dustmann was appointed an IAB Research Fellow in 2005. He was also a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of IAB from 2006 to 2016.

His research interests include migration; economics of the family; economics of education/training; wage structures; and earnings mobility.

He has published the results of his research in various major journals, such as the American Economic Review, the Econometric Journal, the European Economic Review and the Journal of Population Economics.
