Professional background
Dr. Annette Jacoby studied urban and regional sociology at Humboldt-University of Berlin and completed a Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY).
She served as Senior Demographic Scientist in the Population Division of the New York City Department of City Planning, conducting modeling for the city’s 2020 Census strategy. Subsequently, she headed research departments at several nonprofit organizations - most recently as Director of Applied Research at Prosperity Now and earlier as Director of Research & Evaluation at UJA-Federation of New York - while previously holding research appointments at the American Immigration Council, the Luxembourg Income Study Center, and the Center for Urban Research.
Starting in 2025, she joined the IAB’s “Migration, Integration and International Labor Market Research (INTER)” division, where her research focuses on skilled-labor and workforce needs and on the social and economic integration and participation of migrants in Germany.
