Olaf Groh-Samberg studied Sociology, Philosophy and Modern History at Münster and Kassel. In 2000, he graduated with a Master of Arts in Sociology. He completed his PhD at the University of Münster’s Institute of Sociology in 2006. In the following three years, he worked as a postdoc at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) in Berlin, where he has been Research Professor since 2009. In the same year, he was awarded a junior professorship at the University of Bremen. Since 2013, he has been Professor of Sociology with the focus Education, Labour Markets, and Social Inequality at the University of Bremen. In addition, he has been Speaker of the Research Institute Social Cohesion since 2021.
His research focuses on social stratification and mobility, educational inequality, poverty and social exclusion, economic inequality, longitudinal methods and mixed methods.
