Prof. Dr. Moritz Kuhn studied economics at the University of Mannheim, where he graduated in 2005. During his studies, he spent a year abroad as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles. He subsequently earned his PhD in economics from the University of Mannheim in 2010.
Following his doctoral studies, he joined the University of Bonn as an Assistant Professor. He was later appointed Associate Professor (2014–2019) and subsequently Professor of Economics (2019–2023). Since 2023, he has held the position of Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim. Research stays have taken him to the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Minnesota, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minnesota, among others. Moritz Kuhn currently serves as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB).
His research interests lie in the field of macroeconomics, with a particular focus on labor markets, inequality, and economic policy. His work examines wealth and income distribution, the effects of labor market reforms, and the causes and consequences of differences in employment trajectories. His research has been published in leading international journals in the field of economics.
