Professional career and research topics

Yvonne Lott obtained her PhD in Sociology at the University of Bremen. From 2008 to 2011, she was a doctoral candidate at the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences and a member of the scientific staff of the Socio-Economic Panel at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). Between 2011 and 2012, she took part in the project “Middle Class under Pressure?“ at the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences.

Since 2013, Lott has been a project assistant at the Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI), an independent academic institute within the Hans-Böckler-Foundation. From February 2016 to June 2018, she was a scientific employee, and then Head of the research unit Transformation of Gainful Employment in research promotion. Since July 2018, she has been Head of research unit “Gender Research” at the WSI.

The main areas of her research lie in the fields of working hours, flexible working schemes, work-life balance, social inequality, quanti-tative methods and longitudinal analyses.
