From 2002 to 2007, Judith Niehues studied Economics at the University of Cologne and San Diego State University (USA). After that, she accomplished her doctoral studies programme at the Research Training Group SOCLIFE at the University of Cologne, where she received her PhD in 2011. Since 2011, Niehues has been with the German Economic Institute. She is Head of the research group “Microdata and Method Development” at the German Economic Institute.

Judith Niehues primarily deals with the issues of poverty, income and assets, distribution of income and redistribution.
