Professor Christian Merkl

Christian Merkl is Professor of Economics at the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

His research interests cover macroeconomics (especially monetary and fiscal policy), macroeconomic labour market research, and the area where both intersect. Previous research issues include, for example: the labour market effects of fiscal policy and short-time work, the labour market during the Great Recession and, volatility on the labour market.

Christian Merkl publishes the results of his research in the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Literature, Economics Letters and Labour Economics, among other journals.
